Chaos reigned in North London on Sunday evening when a patched-up Tottenham defence conceded half a dozen goals in a thrilling 6-3 loss against Liverpool, and their tussle with Forest at the City Ground has the makings of another goal bonanza.

Incredibly, Tottenham’s last 6 fixtures in all competitions averaged a searing 6.00 goals per game and while a front four of Son, Solanke, Kulusevski and Maddison continue to be potent, the Londoners remain a mess defensively.

Spurs conceded a gigantic 11 shots on target and an xGA of 4.40 in Sunday’s reverse to Liverpool, and with defenders Cristiano Romero and Micky Van de Ven still sidelined, they will head to the East Midlands with a soft centre again.

Nottingham Forest did a professional job at Brentford (2-0) in their last assignment, however, 7 of their 8 Premier League fixtures before that beat the over 2.5 goal line and we should expect a return to that trend here.

Only Wolves’ fixtures (3.94) have seen more action than Tottenham’s games (3.76) in the Premier League this season, so look to the goal markets again for this one.

Both Chelsea and Fulham fired unexpected blanks in their last Premier League assignments against Everton and Southampton respectively at the weekend, though the London rivals can both get back to goal-scoring form at Stamford Bridge on Boxing Day.

Chelsea have failed to score in only 1 of their 8 Premier League home fixtures this season, while BTTS landed in 75% of the same contests. In addition, 10 of their last 12 games in the division overall have also returned winners for BTTS bettors.

For Fulham, the story has been similar and Marco Silva’s competitive Cottagers have seen action at both ends in 76% of their 16 Premier League matches since August.

Fulham have done some admirable work against some big-name opponents already this month and have managed to swap goals with Tottenham (1-1), Arsenal (1-1) and Liverpool (2-2) since the start of December.

Alongside being reliable home scorers, Chelsea have secured just 1 clean sheet in 8 league outings at Stamford Bridge this season, so a stake on BTTS in this West London Derby looks like a good fit here.

Newcastle have been purring as an attacking force this month and the Magpies put another 4 goals past Ipswich at the weekend, to take their tally up to a superb 16 goals in 5 competitive fixtures since the start of December.

With Alexander Isak (6 goals in 4 PL starts) the brightest spark, this Newcastle frontline looks capable of troubling any defence on current form and Eddie Howe’s troops can register for the 9th time in 10 Premier League fixtures when they host Villa.

The Villains, who became the latest outfit to conquer ailing champions Man City (2-1) on Saturday, have now plundered goals in 80% of their last 10 Premier League fixtures, so expect Unai Emery’s confident top-four chasers to give a good account of themselves at St. James’ Park.

75% of Aston Villa’s away matches in the top flight this season have featured goals at both ends, while 88% of the same games saw at least 3 goals. A bet on BTTS would have also paid out in both of Newcastle and Villa’s Premier League encounters last term, so there is plenty to go on here. Look for goals to be notched by both teams.

Bournemouth v Crystal Palace

Bournemouth repeated last seasons feat with another terrific 3-0 win at Old Trafford making a mockery of the odds-on prices for Man United to win. It moves them up to 5th and puts them just 3 points off the Champions League places.

Crystal Palace suffered a very disappointing 5-1 defeat to Arsenal but they’ve been much improved of late with just one defeat in their last 6 games.

The obvious bet here is to back goals at the prices. Bournemouth’s matches have seen 48 goals (For 27, Against 21) at an average of 2.82 per game. However, they should have scored more goals with them being the biggest underachievers in the league in front of goal, having created 36.89 expected goals with the biggest culprits being Marcus Tavernier, Antoine Semenyo and Evanilson.

Their high quality chances is in no small part due to their willingness to get shots off, ranking 2nd and attempting 16.5 per game. So it’s no surprise that over 2.5 goals is a regular winner with 19 of Bournemouth’s last 29 games having seen 3 or more goals (66%).

There’s been a noticeable increase in the number of goals Crystal Palace are scoring and thus overall number of goals in their games recently with the introduction of Ismaila Sarr to the starting 11. Against Premier League opposition, there’s been 33 goals in his 11 starts at an average of 3.0 per-game.

There had only been 18 goals in the 8 matches without him at an average of only 2.25 per-game. Back the goals to continue here.

Wolves v Man United

After stealing a victory in the derby at Man City the previous weekend, results returned to what we’ve been accustomed to with Man United this season, with Ruben Amorim now having lost 3 of his last 4 games. It means it’s only 2 wins in 6 Premier League games for the new boss as United’s poor season continues, they find themselves in 13th with a negative goal difference.

Wolves have a new manager as well having finally cut the cord with Gary
O’Neil. Portuguese boss Vitor Pereira took charge of his first game with a
comprehensive 3-0 win away to Leicester City with all 3 goals coming before half-time.

He made 4 changes from their previous game and it seemed to work with two of the players brought in – compatriots Goncalo Guedes and Rodrigo Gomes – both scoring. Odds-on quotes for an away win look far too short for a Man United side with just 2 wins on the road in 8 games, having scored just 8 goals.

Generally managerial changes happen because of bad results with some bad luck and when the replacement comes in you get a ‘new manager bounce’. Often this is the bad luck evening itself out with good luck and given Wolves are the 4th most under-achieving side based on expected points, their performances haven’t been as bad as their league position suggests, and more positive results are due.
