Hideki Matsuyama produced a record-breaking 35-under-par total to win the Sentry in Hawaii last week and the Japanese star is favourite in his bid to achieve the second leg of the Hawaiian double at the Sony Open this week.
Racing & Football Outlook golf tipster Joe Champion is back with four each-way tips to follow in Hawaii at odds of 25/1, 28/1, 33/1 and 50/1.

Sony Open outright winner selections
Maverick McNealy each-way at 22/1
First played in 1965, the Sony Open returns to its traditional home at Waialae, the short, tree-lined Honolulu venue which contrasts drastically with last week’s Sentry test at wide-open Kapalua Resort.
Despite their differences, the Hawaiian double is not unheard of – Ernie Els won both in 2003 and Justin Thomas did likewise in dominant fashion in 2017 – and Matsuyama, a Sony champion three years ago, has every chance of following up.
However, the 32-year-old, who returned to fifth in the world with his 11th PGA Tour win, has always had to manage his fitness and there are others who make more appeal at bigger odds.
The first is Maverick McNealy, who was advised each-way last week and finished eighth on his debut in the Sentry, where he struck the ball well from tee to green, only really letting himself down with his normally reliable short game.
McNealy is comfortable in Hawaii and he’s demonstrated an ability to handle Waialae on a number of occasions, including when seventh in the 2023 Sony Open.
Austin Eckroat each-way at 35/1
With accuracy to the fore, this looks like another decent chance for Austin Eckroat to add to the titles he won at the Cognizant Classic and the World Wide Technology Championship last year.
Eckroat was 12th on his Waialae debut in 2023 having shown little over the previous few months, then he opened with rounds of 65 and 66 last season before fading over the weekend.
The Honolulu layout suits his eye and this time he arrives as a two-time Tour champion. He was 15th last week, which has to be viewed as a positive given Kapalua is a less suitable venue.
Daniel Berger each-way at 60/1
Daniel Berger is threatening a return to top form and his arrow-straight driving is ideal for Waialae, where he finished seventh on his most recent appearance in 2021. He is a two-time winner at TPC Southwind, where Sony champions Thomas, Fabian Gomez and David Toms have all won titles.
Nico Echavarria each-way at 90/1
Nico Echavarria finished 32nd of 60 Kapalua runners but this looks a better fit for the Zozo Championship hero, who ended last year with form figures of 1-6-29-2. He was 12th on Sony Open debut in 2023 and should again go well.
