Kihavah has been so good over both hurdles and flat for years now, but hurdles form recently has taken a big upward curve. He finished third behind Sir Gino in the Fighting Fifth last month and before that was beaten seven lengths to Rubaud when 10lbs wrong in the weights, who’s gone on to frank the form further since.
He will have a lot in his favour here and the booking of a 10lbs claimer is interesting effectively putting him off 129 here which, when compared to the handicap marks of others, is very appealing.
Bashful is a very useful dual-purpose horse who finds himself dropping down the handicap on the back of a few average efforts of late. His last run at Sedgefield was no devoid of promise though and takes a further drop in the handicap to just 4lb above his last win mark which was only three jumps starts back.
He does his best work off a strong pace which looks likely here and he has plenty in his favour for one at such a big price.
Beauport returned after a 217 day break last month here when hosing up by 31 lengths. He returns to hurdles here after 11 consecutive chases where he’s improved further. Has a record of three wins from nine runs as a hurdler though and the form has mostly stood up since.
Likely returned hurdling to protect his chase mark for a bash at the national but comes into this race with a serious chance and if running to his chase form, he’d be bang there at the finish at a massive price.
