Ja’Kobe Walter over 6.5 threes attempted vs Cleveland Cavaliers @ 5/6
Raptors All-Star Brandon Ingram missed Game 6, with Ja’Kobe Walter stepping into the starting lineup. With Ingram expected to miss Game 7, Walter should be handed a start in this win-or-go-home clash.
With Scottie Barnes taking on ball-handling duties in Immanuel Quickley’s absence, RJ Barrett is now the Raptors’ main scorer, and the focus of Cleveland’s defensive schemes.
Jamal Shead, a 32% three-point shooter in the regular season, and centre Jakob Poeltl complete the Raptors starting lineup. That puts a huge emphasis on Walter to space the floor by shooting from deep.
Walter shot nine threes in Game 6, while he had 14 at Cleveland in Game 5, a game which Ingram left after one quarter. The second-year guard might struggle with his accurracy in his first Game 7, but the Raptors have little option but to keep finding him.
Walter is averaging a team-high 7.5 attempts per game from three, shooting seven or more in four of his last five appearances. He should come out confident after making 10 across the last two games, and Cleveland’s refusal to make defensive adjustments should ensure Walter continues to get looks from deep.
