Premiership Rugby Betting Tips
Looking for Gallagher Premiership predictions? We have been following the English domestic game closely and have gathered information and data from recent seasons to bring you our expert Premiership Rugby betting tips.
Bath to Win the Title: 6/4 at BetVictor
Bath have developed into a formidable side under Johan van Graan. In addition to winning the Gallagher Premiership last season, Bath also won the European Champions Cup, demonstrating that they possess the quality and resilience to compete on multiple fronts. We think that they are the team to beat again this season.
Back Saracens Each-Way
Saracens are perennial contenders, and we fancy them to bounce back after a sixth-place finish last season. While we think Bath will retain their title, we feel that Saracens are the next most likely and are worth an each-way bet.
Bristol Bears to Finish in the Top Four
At 13/10, Bristol Bears are great value to upset the odds and get into the top four. They may lack consistency, but their attacking flair means they are a dangerous team, capable of causing upsets. If a team is likely to disrupt the established order and sneak into the top four, then it is the Bears.
Most Popular Premiership Rugby Betting Markets
To profitably bet on rugby over a prolonged period, you need to be up to speed with how the markets work. Below, we’ve covered a selection of rugby betting markets that you can use with most betting offers and as part of a wider betting strategy.
This is a bet on the team that you think will win the English Premiership. Remember that you can take advantage of the each-way market, where you can get a smaller payout if your team finishes second.
Finishing in the first four in the Gallagher Premiership is crucial. This earns you a spot in the playoffs, where the winners are crowned Premiership champions. This is a popular betting market, and there can be several teams involved in the race to make the first four deep into the season.
Bet on the player who you think will score the most points across the league season. It is often best to look at some of the best kickers in the country for this market, as there are a lot of opportunities to rack up points from conversions and penalties.
Although not as popular of a market as some leagues, the minimum standards criteria regarding facilities sometimes result in no change in Premiership teams across two or three seasons.
Like in football, you can bet on individual matches and select which team you think will win. You can also bet on a draw, but this result is less common in rugby.
There are fewer upsets in rugby union compared to other sports, for example, football. So, handicap betting allows you to add greater interest and value to your Gallagher Premiership match day betting. If you are betting on Bath vs Newcastle and Bath are heavy favourites, you can apply a points disadvantage to Bath or an advantage to Newcastle.
Pick the player who you think will score the first try of the match.
Predict the points difference between the two teams at the end. This is another way to add value to a seemingly one-sided match.
A popular market in the Gallacher Premiership is the over/under market on points. The bookmaker will set a line, and you bet whether the points total will be above or below. Instead of betting on a match winner, you are wagering on whether it will be a high-scoring game or not.

Additional Premiership Rugby Betting Insights
Research is key to any betting strategy. That’s why we have closely examined the Gallagher Premiership and English rugby union to gather key information that will help you better understand the league.
Premiership Rugby Latest Trends
In recent seasons, the league has seen more tries, as more expansive rugby has become popular at the top level of the domestic game. The 2024/25 season saw an average of 7.9 tries per game. This is an increase of 1.8 tries per game, on average, over the previous five seasons. This is a metric that we also noticed in the Rugby League Ashes series, so you need to take this into account when betting on total points.
The number of away wins is steadily rising. Home advantage remains a factor, with 64.2% of games ending in a home win. Nonetheless, more teams are scoring points on the road compared to previous years. Look for the value in away wins if the bookies haven’t latched onto this.
Eight different teams have made the playoff spots over the last five years, and five different teams have won the league. Last season, no less than six teams (60% of the league) could have mathematically made the playoffs going into the final round of regular-season fixtures. This means that mid-table and upper-table fixtures are likely to be more evenly matched and have smaller winning margins.
Premiership Rugby Historical Records
Bath won the Premiership in 2024/25. As well as being victorious in the Premiership Final at Twickenham to win the end-of-season playoffs, the Somerset side finished top of the standings with 72 points from 18 matches. They scored 651 points and conceded 417. This puts them at the top of the pile for attacking and defensive stats. Such data can be useful when handicap betting or when betting on the winning margin.
Individually, Finn Russell of Bath was the top points scorer, with 156. Gabriel Ibitoye and Ollie Hassell-Collins were the division’s joint top try scorers, with 13 each. With 18 matches, it is apparent that the most prolific try scorers can be expected to average somewhere between 0.5 and 0.75 tries per game.
Both Russell and the second-highest points scorer, Handre Pollard, play at fly half and regularly take penalties and conversions. Both top try scorers were wingers. It is worth considering player positions when betting on try and points scorers.
From 90 matches, there were 714 tries overall, an average of 7.9 tries per game. This is useful data for over/under betting and something we used extensively for our Rugby World Cup betting tips.
Key Teams to Watch on Premiership Rugby
We have honed in on three teams, which we have not mentioned in our pre-season tips, who could catch the eye for various reasons this season.
Leicester Tigers
Leicester made it to the Premiership final last season, and although Bath and Saracens are more fancied, the Tigers could be a team to watch. The Tigers have a strong pack, they ruck and maul well and are great from scrummages and the line-out. They are difficult to play against and generally produce on the big occasion. Expect them to make the top four, however, they are probably short of being a championship-winning team.
Harlequins
If Quins can tighten up defensively, then they could end up challenging at the right end of the table. An exciting, expansive side on their day, they have let in too much water against the top sides recently. Be ready to back them to run in a few scores against the lower-ranked teams, ideal for those of you looking to take advantage of any in-play betting markets.
Newcastle Red Bulls
The newly named Newcastle Red Bulls (formerly Falcons) struggled last season, and it looks as though it could be a long, hard winter for the Tynesiders this time round. If you are looking to bet on relegation, then we think Newcastle are looking the most likely.
Premiership Rugby Results During the Last Decade

| 2020–21 | Harlequins | Exeter Chiefs | Sam Simmonds (Exeter) |
| 2019–20 | Exeter Chiefs | Wasps | Jack Willis (Wasps) |
