Champions League semi-final second-leg predictions – Copybet

The first leg of the 2024-25 UEFA Champions League semi-finals produced some fantastic football and an incredible amount of drama and more of the same can be expected before the line-up for the final is known on Wednesday night.

Barcelona and Inter Milan produced one of the matches of the season with a pulsating 3-3 draw in Spain that had even neutral viewers on the edge of their seats.

The other semi-final is also finely poised with Paris Saint-Germain set to defend a slim 1-0 lead at home against Arsenal, who produced an amazing performance to beat Real Madrid home and away in the previous round.

Barcelona’s success in 2014-15 was the last time any of the semi-finalists lifted the trophy, so we will see four hungry teams going all out for victory.

Tip 1: Barcelona’s 3-3 first-leg draw with Inter was one that will stay in the memory for a long time and while the result will be all that matters to both teams in the second leg at the San Siro, there should be plenty more goals scored by two top-quality teams.

Barca were rocked by two early goals in front of their own fans but steeled themselves to play some tremendous football and they dominated the stats sheet with nine shots on target, while Inter showed ruthless efficiency to score from all three of their on-target efforts.

The Spanish side won seven corners to Inter’s two and had more than 70 per cent possession, giving every indication that they would come out on top given a second chance to face Inter.

That’s exactly what they have on Tuesday and they were able to win 2-1 at Valladolid in the league on Saturday despite resting several of their top names.

Barca’s sole defeat in their last 30 matches came at Borussia Dortmund when they were already 4-0 up from the first leg of their Champions League tie, and that was the only time they have failed to win in their last 10 away matches.

Inter are trying to get star man Lautaro Martinez fit to play after he limped out of the first leg with a thigh injury and will hope for more set-piece success in the second leg, but Saturday’s home win over Verona in Serie A ended a five-match winless streak and they could struggle to hold out.

It should be another entertaining match with at least three goals. Five of Barca’s last six games have had over 2.5 goals, while the same is true of nine of Inter’s last 14 fixtures.

PSG vs Arsenal

Tip 2: Paris Saint-Germain are looking to complete a hat-trick of Champions League victories against Premier League teams as they defend a 1-0 first-leg lead against Arsenal in the French capital.

PSG have already eliminated Liverpool in the round of 16 and Aston Villa in the quarter-finals and they confirmed their liking for facing teams from across the Channel when grabbing a valuable 1-0 lead with an Ousmane Dembele goal after just four minutes at the Emirates.

Luis Enrique’s team have done a good job so far of being able to raise their game when it matters most, given that their domestic league title was clinched a month ago.

They have eased off the gas in their league games, taking only one point from their last three matches against Nantes, Nice and Strasbourg, but they had their stars on show in London and Dembele, Bradley Barcola, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Desire Doue are all capable of causing problems for Mikel Arteta’s team.

The Gunners’ Premier League pursuit of Liverpool petered out but they are now facing a bigger fight to keep hold of second place than previously seemed likely after taking only one point from home games against Crystal Palace and Bournemouth.

Arsenal have progressed one round further in this competition than they managed last season, but making their first appearance in the final since 2006 could be beyond them and PSG are worth backing to extend their advantage at home.
