Luke Humphries to Win (v Chris Dobey)
“Luke Humphries can pick up from where he left off in last week’s Premier League by inflicting another defeat on Chris Dobey. The world number one made an early statement of intent by banking the five point bounty in Belfast. After seeing off both Nathan Aspinall and Michael van Gerwen, Humphries made light work of Dobey in the final thanks to a 6-1 victory. While this week’s clash between the pair should be a closer-fought contest, ‘Cool Hand’ should have enough in the locker to see off ‘Hollywood’ for the second time in the space of seven days.
While Dobey surpassed all expectations by reaching the night 1 final, overcoming a player of Humphries calibre proved to be a bridge too far. ‘Cool Hand’ will have his sights firmly set on a second weekly title and an opening round fixture with Dobey represents a good opportunity to build on last week’s momentum and to get more points on board in Glasgow.”
Gerwyn Price to Hit 3+ 180s (v Nathan Aspinall)
“The third quarter-final clash of the evening between Nathan Aspinall and Gerwyn Price looks a tough one to call. In a game that could well go the distance, we should see a reasonable amount of 180s, making Price an appealing prospect to deliver three or more of his own.
‘The Iceman’ ranked a quietly impressive 18th across 2024 for 180s scored and he has made a steady start to 2025 on the maximum front. At last month’s Bahrain Darts Masters, Price racked up a combined total of 20 180s, including seven against Luke Littler. What’s more, he crashed in six maximums when being edged out by Damon Heta at the Winmau World Masters less than two weeks ago.
As for the Premier League, Price hit exactly three 180s when losing to Chris Dobey at the quarter-final stage last Thursday night. It’s also worth noting the Welshman has scored three or more maximums in three of his last four Premier League meetings with Aspinall.”
