Post: Pontefract Place 6 preview | 2nd April

13.45 Northern Commercials Iveco Driveaway Novice Stakes
With conditions set to be testing, the answer to the opener could be FEDERAL ENVOY. He made a successful debut at Southwell and is open to improvement, dropping back in trip on his turf debut with more to come. Karl Burke’s horses are in good form.
Tips: FEDERAL ENVOY
14.15 William Hill NRMB On The Grand National Handicap
None of the trio can be ruled out. THRONE HALL bolted up on similar ground at Doncaster last time out and is the one to beat. BILLY NO MATES powered to victory at Haydock last time over a longer trip and is feared, while TORCELLO drops down significantly in grade and should be heavily involved.
Tips: THRONE HALL, BILLY NO MATES, TORCELLO
14.45 Jamaican Flight Handicap
This is by far the most competitive race on the card. GOOBINATOR won at Catterick on his latest start in this sphere and should make a bold bid. JUSTUS is back on his last winning mark, while MAXIDENT and BLACK KALANISI are others to consider in a difficult puzzle to solve.
Tips: GOOBINATOR, JUSTUS, MAXIDENT, BLACK KALANISI
15.15 William Hill Extra Place Races Every Day Handicap
Grant Tuer’s GLORIOUS ANGEL will find this easier than the race she contested at Doncaster last time out and is worthy of respect back in handicap company. HIYA MAITE won three times last year and will love conditions, so he is played as a cover for the former.
Tips: GLORIOUS ANGEL, HIYA MAITE
15.45 Napoleons Casino Bradford Handicap
TWILIGHT ROMANCE finished down the field at York last time, but he had previously finished second over C&D, and his win at York and third on his debut at Haydock have worked out well, so he’s one to consider. JAMES’S DELIGHT has more to come in handicaps and should be thereabouts.
Tips: TWILIGHT ROMANCE, JAMES’S DELIGHT
16.15 Edie, Linda & Philip Grundy April Birthdays Handicap
BUSTAAM cruised to victory at Doncaster last month and must have every chance of scoring again with plenty more to offer. LORD MELBOURNE makes his handicap debut off a handy mark and could give the favourite most to think about.
Tips: BUSTAAM, LORD MELBOURNE
