The EFL play-offs get underway this weekend with the first fixture taking place on Friday night as Hull City entertain Millwall in the Championship semi-finals.
Middlesbrough and Southampton complete the Championship play-offs line-up. In League One the battle is between Stockport, Bolton, Bradford and Stevenage, while Salford, Chesterfield, Notts County and Grimsby contest the League Two play-offs.
I’ve picked out a winner from each batch of four and together they combine for a 61/1 treble with bet365.
EFL Play-Offs Promotion Treble Tip
Championship Play-Offs
Southampton to be promoted @ 2/1 with bet365
Among neutrals’ annual sporting highlights, yet so agonising, bordering on unwatchable for those whose teams are involved.
The Championship play-offs conclude at Wembley with what is widely considered the richest game in football, as two teams battle for a place in the following season’s Premier League.
Millwall, Hull, Middlesbrough and Southampton are this season’s final four, playing for a place in the top flight alongside Coventry and Ipswich.
Momentum is so often vital and the Saints have it in spades. Relegated from the 2024-25 Premier League, they played well yet struggled for results under Will Still, but his replacement, Tonda Eckert, has transformed their fortunes, finishing fourth and reaching an FA Cup semi-final.
League One Play-Offs
Stevenage to be promoted @ 9/2 with betg365
Lincoln and Cardiff deservedly earned automatic promotion from the third tier, but which of Stockport, Bradford, Bolton and Stevenage will join them in next season’s Championship?
Luck was against Stockport as they lost to Leyton Orient on penalties in last season’s semi-finals and they have already experienced Wembley heartache against Luton in last month’s EFL Trophy final.
Third in the final standings, the Hatters might face more hard luck when facing Stevenage, who lost only one of their last nine fixtures.
They also won both meetings with Stockport, 3-1 at Edgeley Park and then 2-1 at Broadhall Way.
Stevenage are the form team heading into the League One play-offs. They won five of their last six home games 1-0 and that stubbornness might be what’s needed to take them into the second tier for the first time ever.
League Two Play-Offs
Grimsby to be promoted @ 11/4 with bet365
A strong end to the League Two season allowed Grimsby to break into the top seven and their cup pedigree means they may be difficult to overcome in the play-offs.
Last August, the Mariners famously beat Manchester United on penalties in the EFL Cup and also made the fourth round of the FA Cup.
That ability to produce one-off big performances makes them dangerous and they will be confident of beating semi-final opponents Salford.
Chesterfield and Notts County meet in the other half of the draw, with both aiming to avenge last season’s play-off frustrations when each failed to make it to Wembley.
David Artell’s Grimsby side knows how to pull out big performances when it matters. There’s something of destiny about the Mariners’ season, and a campaign ignited by beating Man United may end in big celebrations could conclude with promotion via a play-off final win.
