Lyon vs Nice – Lyon win to nil @ 2/1 with bet365

Lyon have won their last 12 matches in all competitions and can overcome a Nice side that has emerged from their pre-Christmas crisis.

In December, Claude Puel returned for his second spell in charge of Les Aiglons. While some big players have left, Elye Wahi is a good pick-up on loan and they should be too good to go down.

By contrast, Lyon are chasing a Champions League finish. Although brilliant to watch in attack, they have also kept clean sheets in their last three in all competitions.

Their defence could prove even more important given that on-loan Brazil forward Endrick is suspended for Sunday’s game.

Wahi has scored three times in his first five games for Nice but he and his new colleagues failed to break down Monaco in last week’s 0-0 derby draw, and may face more frustration in Décines-Charpieu.

Rayo Vallecano vs Atletico Madrid – Atletico Madrid to win @ 4/5

Last Sunday’s 1-0 home defeat to Real Betis will have frustrated Diego Simeone but his Atletico Madrid remain Spain’s third-best team and they bounced back with a stunning 4-0 rout of Barcelona in the Copa del Rey on Thursday, spelling trouble for Rayo Vallecano.

The hosts finished eighth and were shock European qualifiers last term but they have struggled to replicate that form this time around and start the weekend in the relegation zone.

Four straight defeats will have done nothing for Rayo’s deteriorating confidence and this match arrives a whole two weeks after their last, so expect rustiness to show as Atleti cruise to victory in this Madrid derby.

Motherwell vs Aberdeen – Motherwell to win to nil @ 2/1 with bet365

The battle for the Scottish Premiership title would be a four-way affair had Motherwell not been held to 11 league draws this term, but Motherwell should have few problems seeing off Aberdeen.

A late equaliser earned the latest of those points against Rangers on Wednesday and that was the first time in nine league games that Well have conceded at Fir Park as they extended a run that has seen them lose just once in 17 Premiership outings.

Aberdeen’s midweek trip to Dundee United was postponed, but the Dons are not having a great time.

A 6-2 win over bottom-of-the-table LIvingston on January 24 has been the only occasion in their last six matches when they have found the net and with one goal in their last six on the road, including a 3-0 Conference League loss at Sparta Prague, it is difficult to be optimistic.

AVS vs Estoril – Estoril over 1.5 team goals at 4/6 with bet365

Bottom side AVS are still looking for their first win of the Primeira Liga campaign, suffering 16 defeats in 21 matches. They’ve struggled to hold up defensively in the top-flight, conceding twice or more in 18 of their games this season.

Visitors Estoril are one of Portugal’s form sides, rising to seventh after winning five of their last seven games. They’ve scored 21 goals in that stretch, including a 4-2 win at Santa Clara and a 5-0 victory at Estrela in their previous two away days.

Estoril have scored at least twice in all six of their visits to sides below them, scoring 19 goals across those matches. AVS have conceded 23 times in their 11 home matches, so back the visitors to score a couple of goals.

Alex Wrigley

Sparta Rotterdam vs NEC Nijmegen – NEC Nijmegen to win at 7/5 with bet365

NEC Nijmenegen’s phenomenal season hit a stumbling block as they lost to Utrecht in midweek, but they head into the weekend round of fixtures third in the Eredivisie and can get back to winning ways against a Sparta Rotterdam side that have lost two of their last four home matches.

The visitors have won six of their last seven fixtures and head to Rotterdam unbeaten in seven on their travels, winning six of these. This includes successes at AZ Alkmaar and Feyenoord, while the reverse fixture in November saw NEC trump their opponents 3-1.
