PGA Championship Tips – CopyBet
Quail Hollow in North Carolina plays host to the second Major of 2025, as the world’s top golfers tee it up at the PGA Championship.
Having become just the sixth man to complete the Grand Slam at last month’s Masters, Rory McIlroy is now heading to a course where he has enjoyed plenty of success.
World number one Scottie Scheffler is also in a confident mood, after collecting the CJ Cup Byron Nelson just two weeks ago, winning by a massive eight shots.
A lot of attention will also be on Jordan Spieth, with the US Ryder Cup star looking to win the only Major that has so far eluded him as he aims to join the illustrious Grand Slam list.
Tip 1: McIlroy’s iconic win at Augusta, which took him 17 attempts before claiming the Green Jacket, will have taken a huge amount of pressure off the Northern Irishman’s shoulders.
The 36-year-old has five Majors to his name, that includes two PGA Championships, and he looks to have the perfect opportunity to add to that tally this week.
Quail Hollow has been the regular venue for the Wells Fargo Championship (now Truist Championship) since 2003.
Nobody has won that tournament more times than McIlroy, who has collected the trophy at the North Carolina track on no fewer than four occasions – the latest coming in 2024.
The Masters champion also holds the course record at Quail Hollow, firing a 10-under-par 61 back in 2015.
Tip 2: Many believe it is just a matter of time before Ludvig Aberg becomes a Major champion, after an incredible start to life as a professional.
The Swede has only started five Majors and already has two top-10 and a top-15 finish to his name, while already securing two PGA Tour titles.
His latest success came in February, when winning The Genesis Invitational, and there has been some good signs in recent weeks.
Although he will be disappointed with a T60 finish at last week’s Truist Championship, Aberg carded an opening-round 66 and is tied-10th on Tour in the ‘Off the Tee’ stats.
Tip 3: Max Homa is another player with happy memories of Quail Hollow and that could see him challenge towards the top of the leaderboard this week.
The Californian is a six-time winner on the PGA Tour, although his last title came back in 2023, and he has seen his ranking slip in recent months.
Five missed cuts in a row earlier in the year was concerning, but he bounced back in style at the Masters with a T12 finish.
Homa finished in the top-30 at last week’s event, having carded 66 and 68 over the first two days, and now heads to a course where he has twice been a winner.
