The first Major of 2025 starts at Augusta National on Thursday as golf’s elite names battle for glory in the 89th edition of the Masters.
Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy dominate the betting but Racing & Football Outlook golf tipster Joe Champion, who successfully tipped Scheffler to win a year ago, is taking on the big two with four each-way selections.
All prices quoted come from bet365 and the top five places are covered by backing these picks as each-way bets.
The Masters Outright Selections
Collin Morikawa each-way at 14/1
Accurate approach play is the key to success at Augusta National and nobody is striking their irons as well as Collin Morikawa, who leads the PGA Tour in strokes-gained approach this season.
Morikawa, a two-time Major champion, was an unlucky runner-up at the Arnold Palmer Invitational in March, losing by a shot after Russell Henley holed out for eagle on the 16th, then he finished tenth at the Players, striking the ball superbly.
While he hasn’t won as many titles as his talent suggests he should have, the Californian is a frequent Masters contender, finishing 18th, fifth, tenth and third in the four April Masters he has contested including last year, when he teed off in the final group on Sunday.
Justin Thomas each-way at 22/1
A brilliant iron-player who is capable of magic around the greens, Justin Thomas has long looked capable of winning the Masters and this could be the week when he finally realises that ambition.
Thomas’s form slipped following his win at the 2022 US PGA Championship, resulting in a missed cut at both the 2023 and 2024 Masters, but he has returned to his best this season, chalking up four top-ten finishes including a runner-up finish at the Valspar last time out.
The 31-year-old was fourth at the Masters in 2020 and eighth in 2022 and looked poised for another big week in Georgia.
The Masters Outsider Selections
Russell Henley each-way at 40/1
Georgia native Russell Henley is playing better than ever, pipping Morikawa to the Arnold Palmer Invitational title last month to land the biggest title of his career, and an even more prestigious victory could be coming on Sunday afternoon.
Henley, a high-class iron-player, has made the cut in his last seven Masters and was fourth behind Jon Rahm in the 2023 tournament.
Patrick Reed each-way at 66/1
Patrick Reed claimed the Green Jacket in 2018 and has continued to perform well at Augusta National, chalking up form figures of 36-10-8-35-4-21 in six subsequent Masters starts.
The LIV Golf man has been in rock solid form on that circuit, finishing tenth in Hong Kong and 25th in Singapore in March and seventh in Miami last Sunday.
