Friday’s European Football Accumulator Tips
Thiago Motta’s Juventus side have proven themselves to be incredibly hard to beat, their loss to title chasers Napoli last time out was their first defeat in Serie A this season evidencing how stubborn Motta has made the Old Lady. However, despite this unbeaten record for the majority of the season so far – Juventus are still 14 points behind league leaders Napoli. This is largely due to Juventus’ inability to truly kill off games, they’ve drawn 13 games in Serie A this season – more than any other side in the division.
They face a Como side that have been competitive in their attempt to survive in Serie A for another season under the tutelage of Cesc Fabregas. They aren’t quite safe yet with a tight relegation battle at the bottom of Serie A with only 3 points separating Parma in 18th and Hellas Verona in 13th. Como’s games usually produce goals, they’ve seen 36 goals across their 11 home games this season (3.27 per game). Juventus aren’t too far behind in this metric with 28 goals across their 11 away trips this campaign (2.54 per game).
Juventus ran out 3-0 winners in the initial meeting between these sides in Turin, it’s unlikely to be as comfortable for Thiago Motta’s side here with Como proving a much tougher assignment at home but when considering Juventus’ impressive unbeaten record for the majority of the season it’s likely that they come away with at least 1 point here with goals also expected with plenty on the line for both sides at either end of the table.
Real Vallecano have been a real surprise story in LaLiga this season, Inigo Perez’s side sit 6th in the table, currently occupying a Conference League position and are only 5 points behind Villarreal in 5th place. They’ve avoided defeat in 16 of their 22 league games this season which has propelled them into the European battle in Spain’s top flight.
They welcome a Real Valladolid that is really struggling at the moment, Valladolid sit bottom of La Liga having won just 4 of their 22 games in the league with 15 of these games ending in defeat – more than anyone else in the division. They also rank 1st in the division for goals conceded (47) and bottom for goals scored (15), the latter of which will be a real problem against a Real Vallecano side that has only conceded 24 goals this campaign, a record that puts them amongst some of the best defensive sides in the division.
Real Valladolid’s away record makes particularly worrying reading with Diego Cocca’s side already 8 points from safety. They’ve won just 1 of their 11 away assignments in La Liga, losing 10 of these games whilst conceding 32 goals – double the amount they’ve conceded at home this campaign. Real Vallecano have won each of their last 2 games in La Liga and can add to Real Valladolid’s misery here, the away side have lost each of their last 3 games and 4 of their last 5 in all competitions by an aggregate score of 13-4.
League leaders PSG welcome a Monaco side that they currently sit 13 points ahead of and are still in a domestic battle to secure European football this season with Lille, Nice and Lens still all in the hunt for a Champions League placed finish. PSG are unbeaten across their last 5 games in all competitions and have seen BTTS in all 5 of these encounters whilst Monaco have won 3 of their last 5 in all competitions, seeing BTTS in 3 of these fixtures.
The initial meeting between these sides ended in a 4-2 win for PSG with plenty of goalmouth action at either end. Monaco generated an xG of 2.48 in defeat to PSG’s 1.77 with 10 big chances in the game, 5 for each side. These numbers suggest that there wasn’t much to split the sides in the initial encounter despite the gap in points in the league. It also shows that neither of these backlines can be trusted to keep the attacking talent that is on show for both sides at bay which should result in another entertaining encounter here in which both of these sides can find the back of the net at least once.
PSG’s defence can be culpable to defensive frailty, they’ve failed to keep a clean sheet in 6 games in Ligue 1 whilst Monaco tend to find the back of the net at least once in their games in the French top flight, they’ve scored 36 goals across their 20 games in Ligue 1 this campaign (1.8 per game).
